Midlands industry stalwart Deritend recognised for carbon reduction commitment
Leading industrial maintenance, service and repair group Deritend Industries has been presented with an award in recognition of the company’s efforts to reduce energy consumption for manufacturers across the West Midlands.
The ‘Made in the Midlands Achievement Awards’, which took place on Friday 10 September in Wolverhampton, recognises manufacturing, engineering and construction companies that have made a notable contribution to their industry over the past year.
Over recent months, Deritend has vastly expanded its service offering to help the industry broach the issue of energy consumption – the success of which led to the company clinching the award.
Richard Hale, Deritend’s MD, said: “We are very proud that our work towards energy efficiency and carbon reduction has been recognised by these awards, which we hope will become a treasured and recurring feature on the region’s business calendar.
“Energy efficiency and the issue of carbon emissions is something that we feel very strongly about at Deritend,” continued Hale, “and, with the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme registration deadline coming up at the end of this month, it is something that should be firmly on the radar of the region’s industrial businesses as well.
“Seventy percent of electricity used in manufacturing, for example, is through electric motors,” said Richard. “Companies should not only be looking to assess this for carbon reduction reasons, but for the substantial savings that such cuts can bring.”
Under the company’s new service offering, Deritend now offers comprehensive consultancy and related support services specifically focused on energy efficiency.
In addition, thanks to a strong partnership with the Carbon Trust, Deritend is also an authorised provider of the Carbon Trust’s Zero interest Loan scheme, and can help businesses to assess potential energy savings and tap into vital sources of funding.
As well as providing services to others in the area, Deritend has taken considerable steps towards regulating and neutralising its own carbon emissions. The company is a member of the 10:10 campaign and RenewableUK, and is currently working toward the Carbon Trust Standard.
