Board Commitment
The Deritend Group Limited has made a corporate commitment to achieving continual improvements in energy efficiency which is documented directly through our Energy Policy Statement. Our commitment to managing carbon dioxide emissions is integrated in our overall commitment of pollution prevention and our aims stated in or Environmental Policy and ISO14001:2004 Environmental management system.
Energy Policy Statement
The Deritend Group Limited is committed to maintaining and improving the environment and achieving continual improvement in the conservation of energy resources, including transport efficiencies. In moving towards our goals of more sustainable operations in meeting customer requirements, the Group recognises its responsibility for managing energy and fuel use. This includes the following aspects:
- Reducing the effect of pollution and the local and wider global environment from the production of energy used in its business locations and transport;
- Efficient use and management of utilities, which will in turn, minimise consumption, expenditure and environmental impact without compromising comfort levels and energy requirements;
- Reduction in CO2 emissions to help meet UK targets;
- Saving energy means money can be more usefully invested elsewhere;
- Promoting energy efficiency throughout operations including transport;
- Communicate policies to staff; and
- To encourage suppliers to adopt standards comparable to its own
In meeting our commitment to the UN millennium development goal 7, our sustainability objectives for energy conservation and improvement are;
Medium and Short Term Objectives
- To ensure all our buildings, plant and equipment are maintained too provide good practice energy use;
- To limit the impact of increased activity in order to achieve targets;
- To review tariffs and energy supply contracts;
- To monitor and evaluate performance levels against national benchmarks;
- To increase staff awareness and training - provide practical advice on energy management to staff;
- To develop energy consumption monitoring and building energy management systems;
- To reduce environmental impact of fuels by managing and monitoring our sub 160g/km emissions of CO2;
- To ensure that our energy policy becomes part or our integrated management system with best practice adopted.
